About this campaign

The Walk for Ashley will be held in conjunction with the 2017 Western Springs Tower Trot on Saturday, May 27th, 2017. Ashley Jurjovec passed away suddenly in May of 2016 from an undetected heart disease known as ARVC. Ashley was a beloved teacher at McClure Jr. High and an inspirational educator in the Western Springs community. Ashley’s family and friends are raising money for Lurie’s Children’s Hospital of Chicago to support advanced research regarding ARVC and other heart rhythm diseases. All proceeds will be donated to Ashley’s tribute page.

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a devastating disease that can lead to sudden death without symptoms. Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is spearheading an initiative to identify genetic causes of this condition and other heart rhythm diseases. Doctors hope to discover new genetic causes through whole genome sequencing and improve risk assessment for families and ultimately prevent adverse events from occurring in the future. Results are reliant on donations to support the revolutionary research.
