About this campaign
Join the the very passionate community of camp supporters and advocates this May and help raise campership funds by participating in JACF's GET OUTSIDE! Because Camp Matters.
Our new fundraising event is a call to engage together and participate
in outdoor activities that nourish us personally and at the same time
make it possible for youth who face significant barriers to success to
experience positive growth and change through the power of nature-based,
residential summer camp programs.
Here’s how the event works:
On any day in May, get together a group
of friends, family and co-workers to go for a hike, a walk, a bike ride,
a canoe trip—really the sky and your imagination are the limits for
outdoor activities. Participants can even GET OUTSIDE!
and do their own activity and ask others to contribute for miles
traveled or units completed (think singing 100 camp songs out in a
park--just as a crazy suggestion!). Registration is $50.00 for the
event, which includes a "campy" event t-shirt to be worn on your chosen
event day. You can also make an additional donation to JACF when you
register. We have put together a to hlp you wth plannng and
nvitingarticipants to join your GET OUTSIDE! activity. GET OUTSIDE! Because Camp Matters!

Founded in 1989 in memory of John Austin "Jack" Cheley, owner/director of Cheley Colorado Camps in Estes Park, Colorado, JACF funds need-based camperships for high potential youth to attend extended stay, wilderness summer camps that have a proven track record of positively impacting youth development.
Our alliance-focused model leverages the power of American Camp Association accredited summer camps and high quality youth mentoring organizations to promote the success of youth. We are the only camp scholarship organization that is committed to fully funding youth for the full lifespan of their camp experience.
It's about IMPACT. Residential, nature-based summer camp programs help youth grow and develop in ways that prime them for future success. An increasing body of research indicates that summer camps foster the outcomes of self-confidence, independence, leadership, responsibility, environmental awareness and teamwork. These outcomes align with the necessary skills identified by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning for today's youth to thrive in a world in which change is constant and learning never stops.
Our founders understood in their hearts that camp had a profound effect on the trajectory of their lives. It's why we have a vested interest in the success of young people, particularly those who face significant barriers in our society. And it's why our tagline reads: "Because Camp Matters."
